By the digitalisation
close to the sensor the magnetometer gets insensitive
for external influences like changes in grounding or
HF disturbances etc, which lead to offset changes in
conventional analogue electronics. The stability of
the AD converter offset is no longer important because
the alternating sensor signal is digitalised and the
rectification is done by a sign depending summation.
Furthermore, the temperature- dependence of the analogue
electronics, especially of the filter and the symmetry
of the phase sensitive detector, are no longer a problem
because these parts are substituted by digital signal
processing. The digital fluxgate magnetometer offers
the possibility of easy adaptation of frequency and
dynamic to the specific needs.
